The Tennessee Department of Labor has closed the book on a complaint from state Rep. Mike Turner, finding no evidence to support the lawmaker’s claim that illegal immigrant labor was used on Metro’s convention center construction project.
The investigation could not go forward because anonymous sources cited by Turner in his July complaint would not agree to be interviewed, according to a department inspector.
Although the complaint was closed without any action being taken against the $585 million construction project’s manager, Bell/Clark Construction, Turner said he still believed it was worthwhile to air his public allegations.
A spokeswoman for the project reiterated that no illegal labor has been used for construction of the Music City Center.
